Next 5-er comes as a hatchback?
This is a photoshopped picture of the BMW 5-series as a hatchback that British publication AutoExpress had on its on-line version and according to the accompanying article the picture is not meant to be funny.
According to their deep throat, the next generation 5-er, which is due in 2010, will come in three forms, normal saloon, this funky hatchback and the load lugging touring.
Apparently Munich is taking its cue from the VW group’s Skoda which introduced their new Superb as a twinhatch which means that you can choose to open the rear like a normal boot or stiffen the joints and lift the windscreen together as a hatch.
Skoda’s solution was superb, pardon the pun, when matched with fold flat seats, the sober saloon can suddenly swallow furniture just like a hatch…
