Shell FuelSave College Competition offers RM15k for grabs

by -

Students from ten public and private universities have taken up the challenge of planning, pitching, and executing a marketing and communications campaign to promote and educate smart fuel efficient driving techniques amongst Malaysian youth in this year’s Shell FuelSave College Competition launched earlier this month.

This competition is aimed at providing students with a first-hand experience of the working world and exposure to the marketing and communications industry. Participating teams are from Monash University, Tunku Abdul Rahman University, Help University, UCSI University, Sunway University, IACT College, Taylor’s University, Universiti Putra Malaysia, National University of Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

The winning university or college team will be crowned the Shell FuelSave College Competition 2014 Champion, and take home RM15,000, a championship trophy as well as internship opportunities with Shell Malaysia and its media and international communications agency partners. The first runner-up will receive RM8,000 and a trophy, followed by RM5,000 and a trophy.

This year the participating students’ key task is to encourage the public to pledge to be smarter and more fuel-efficient drivers via the #ShellPledge contest. This is part of Shell Malaysia’s larger initiative to be more innovative in conveying the message on fuel efficiency.

The #ShellPledge contest runs from 1st till 31st October; members of the public can participate in the #shellpledge contest by submitting a photo and caption on Instagram or on www.shell.com.my/shellpledge containing messages on smarter driving and fuel saving tips. Submissions need to be hashtagged with #ShellPledge to be counted as a pledge. Prizes in the offering include the soon-to-be-launched all-new Mazda2 SkyActiv, Samsung Galaxy Tabs, Jawbone Portable Bluetooth speakers, and others.
